I turned a rusty old accordian style baby bed into a one of a kind, fancy, girly, awesome day bed
This is what the baby bed looked like before I did anything to it. The first thing I did was remove the front part of the bed.
Then I painted it with "sweet Baby Girl" barely pink paint that I bought at Lowes for $3 a gallon because they had mixed it wrong. I always look at the bargain shelf at Lowes and Home Depot - I get some great deals on paint 😊
I really hated to paint over the perfect rusty patina but since it's going in my granddaughters room my daughter insisted i paint it. BUT....I had to leave a little of the original finish showing thru.
Final step - I put slats across the bottop and then a piece of plywood over that to add extra support. Then I added the mattres and this perfectly girly crocheted block bedding I found at a yard sale for $25. It included a twin bed spread which I altered to fit the bed, 2pillow shams, accent pillows and sheer lacy curtains.
I love the way the spread puddles on the corners. I am planning to hang the ftont part of the bed (that I removed in step 1) from the ceilings (flat and horizontal) and dress it with the extra long lacy sash that also came with the bedding and add a string of pink mini lights. It will be like a canopy hanging down around the bed It's going to look awesome but I haven't gotten to that yet. I will post a picture when I get everything set up in my granddaughter's room.
I love it .!. ❤️💕❤️
