My Mama recently gave me an old trunk that belonged to my Daddy. I wanted to preserve the memory and bring new life to the old trunk plus put my personal touch to it. My Daddy always loved all of my creative work so I thought that it was only fitting that I put my personal touch on what was once his trunk.
These first two pictures show the trunk as it was when I took possession of it.
The following three pictures are of the interior of the trunk before work began.
After taking a good look at the trunk and deciding what I wanted to do to bring it back to life I got to work.
I sanded the trunk and then I painted it black because I wanted to maintain its original color.
I removed the original locks and spray painted them with Rust-oleum Hammered Black.
Moving on to the inside. I sanded down the inside and put 2 coats of clear polyurethane on it.
It was time for my personal touch. I free handed a flower on the front of the trunk. Stood back took a look and was pleased with adding that touch just for Daddy. I know that sounds corny but, my Daddy was always my biggest fan!
The finished project now sits in my dining room holding my most precious linens.
