I knew the ornate green lamp & shade I spotted on clearance in my local ReStore would be beautiful once the tacky was removed. Originally $12, marked down 75% I got it for $3. The young sales person was unable to hide her surprise when I said "I'll take it" :) The green doesn't look as yellow in the pics but it was the most unattractive color...think bile and you have it.
A classic sturdy metal candlestick base was just what I wanted. The gold & crimson embellishments? Not so much.
it came with matching bile-green shade which was too big for this slender silhouette.
after a few coats of heirloom white satin spray paint (the white finial looked too heavy but black chalkboard spray paint fixed that)
and completed with a correct sized silk lampshade for $15 on sale at Shopco
For less than $20 I got the lamp that I wanted.
