They are every where, we have had them for a while. They are like the biggest pests on earth. I just romp and stomp all the time between them and those earwig looking ones. They will come in on your clothes, pets, everything. I have found flying insect killer gets a lot of bugs, but haven't tried it on them. I usually just ignore them like I do most other bugs.
I would contact a professional exterminator. You may also get information from your local university’s ag department. They can identify the pest and suggest ways to get rid of them.
I think they are boxelder bugs. They're looking for a winter home. Household sprays containing pyrethrins or resmethrin may help keep them at bay, but the best way is to use a fly swatter, or vacuum to get rid of them.
You need to figure out where they are getting in. Caulk will help keep them out. But also check crawl spaces and attics
It looks like a boxelder bug. They do not bite, sting or carry diseases. They can be killed with household sprays. Or you can just wait for colder weather for them to crawl into cracks to overwinter. If they are inside your house vacuum them up and empty the vacuum bag in an outside trash container. Swashed bugs can stain curtains.
I would suggest you look up pictures and descriptions of various Garden Beatles , Roaches etc.
boxelder bug..attracted to maple, ash and boxelder trees..spraying with pyrethrin according to label instructions will control..
They are boxelder bugs. by some spearmint gum take the foil wrapped gum put a piece in your dish cupboards linen closets. then get a couple of those small bottles of spearmint concentrated flavoring and a quart spray bottle. put the spearmint liquid in spray bottle fill up with water. then spray on your door thresh holds and about 6 inches up each side of your door way. then spray around your windows and screens, you just kinda mist all. You don't soak. You can get spearmint flavoring concentrate at most drugstores. it doesn't kill the darn things but it does keep the majority of them out. a few may ride in on you , the kids, dogs or cat, but this is far better than them having freedom to march in thru the window or doors an you can keep them out of food an dishes. just spray where ever you think they might come in at.
The south side of my house gets filled in the fall with box-elder bugs. They love the sunny days. I spray them with vinegar with something oily mixed is. I have used veg oil and SSS from Avon. Then I sweep them up.
Others come and take their place though. So I spray 2-3 times a day on real sunny cool days.
The few that make it into the house I vacuum up.

Boxhelder bugs. Ugh. Had them for over 40 years living in Minnesota and Wisconsin. We had sweet treesin the yard like maple ash and birch. Didn't want to lose the shade. I also had spiders. Found a a solution for strong peppermint tea sprayed around windows and doors and any other cracks kept the spiders away and did the trick on the boxhelder. Make a strongbatch of peppermint tea, and put in a spray bottle and spray around areas to keep themat bay. You will have to respray after it rains or the smell dissipate. The essential oils work as well diluted, but be aware it is an oil and can leave a residue or stain some woods. Oils last longer though.
dish soap and water....spray liberally
Dawn dish soap mixed with water ..... Your welcome 🙏 works every time
I spray them with vinegar and water, also soap and water works just as well.
Orthro Home Defense will get rid of them.
A simple solution made from soap and water will kill boxelder bugs. Add a tablespoon or so of liquid dishwashing soap to a spray bottle full of water and shake gently to combine. Spray the mixture directly on any bugs you see. The soap breaks down the bugs' outer shells, so they dehydrate and die.
Spray with peppermint. They don't like the smell.

If it was me I would sweep them off the side of the house so they hit the ground cause chickens would love to nibble on these.

Hi Louise, it's a boxelder bug. If possible, you can also try knocking the insects into a bucket of soapy water, where they'll drown.
