We spray once a year with Demon WP. Not toxic after it dries. And doesn't kill the frogs or lizards (both good for keeping control of other insects). Spray around exterior of home and around doors and windows. Get ours out local farm supply and it's pretty cheap.

1st, be careful of toxic residual remedies - they can harm children & pets crawling on the floor. Cockroaches are found in dark, damp places like seldom used toilets or sink drains, under washers & dryers & around dry food. Be CRAZY CAREFUL to clean up crumbs from dry food boxes, toasters & pet dishes. Put all dry food in plastic or glass canisters. Always keep plugs in sink & shower drains when not using. Seal around all water pipes where they meet walls or floor. NEVER bring grocery boxes into your house. Cocroach killer is available at hardware & some farm supply stores. I’m Canadian & we bought a house in Florida for the winter mos. & were HORRIFIED to find roaches (dead & alive). After killing the live ones, I poured bleach down all drains, & scoured the kitchen & washroom cabinets. When we left in spring, we left no boxed dry food, plugged every drain, covered toilet bowls in Saran Wrap (unused sink & toilet pipes dry up & are ideal breeding places. This worked well for 7 yrs with an occasional dead one when returning in fall. In apts, they go from ground level to upper floors, so everyone has to treat at same time. Good luck.

Yes Boric Acid. You can even buy it in a plastic bottle with a spout to "spray" it around the bases of cabinets, under rugs, around the perimeter of your basement (inside) the house. Using cleaning products that contain REAL lemon or cedar oils also discourages ants and moths and other common insect invaders. Roaches often come into the house on cardboard or paper carriers, not just by crawling, even in the mail! Of course keeping your house clean also plays a big roll, as well as keeping the trash out!
