This week’s Material of the Week is LED rope lights, and you’ll be amazed at how much light these lights can brighten up any area of your home. You can install them to brighten up a dark hallway, install them on your deck to bring some extra flair to your outdoor entertaining, you can even install them under your kitchen cabinets for some low level kitchen lighting. Take a look!
LED Rope Lights come with an adapter that plugs into any standard outlet.
Instantly Brighten A Dark Hallway
With these LED strip lights, Hometalker Connie Chrisman Hatch took her dark hallway from drab to fab.
For this project you can repurpose an old storm door or window. Spray with Rust-Oleum frosted glass to make the window opaque.
Attach LED strip lighting to the back of the window. This strip lighting is adhesive; to attach remove backing and stick to the window or door.
Screw brackets to the wall and hang your window.
Add a window treatment, plug in your lights and watch your new “window” make everyone smile. :)

Ambient Deck Lighting
Hometalker Vineta shares how she installed this weather resistant LED rope lighting around her deck railing.
The brackets that will hold the rope light in place are easily screwed into the wood. You can get them here.
Install them at intervals along the railing, about two feet apart, then snap the LED rope into the brackets.
Plug them in, and...instant deck decor! These particular lights can go from white to red with the flip of a button. The best part about these is that they are hidden under the railing, so it won’t look like you forgot to take down your holiday lights when the season is over!

Under The Cabinet Rope Lighting
For under-the-cabinet lights, you’ll want to grab some Command hooks. Not familiar with them? Check out last week’s Material of the Week.
Make sure to clean the underside of your cabinets well before applying the hooks. Remove the paper from the adhesive, and stick the hooks to the underside of the cabinet. Add a hook every 4 - 6 inches. Apply pressure to make sure they are stuck on well.
Snap the lights into the clips making sure to secure as you go so there is no slack.
Step back and enjoy your new under-cabinet lights.

LED rope lights and LED strip lights are different types of lights. This is very misleading to people who don't know. I think your heading needs to be changed to reflect this.Thank you

YES, there is a great difference between LED rope lights and LED strip lights. All of us should have a clear idea about these types of LED lights. The color of the bulbs of LED rope lights cannot be changed. You will find an option for changing the color of LED strip lights.

Have a question about this project?
I'm curious to know where or how she plugged them in?
Can a on/off switch be adapted to the rope/strip lighting. Like under-neathe kitchen cabinets so the lighting can be used as night lights at night time??
