Learn how to make this super easy and eclectic desk I made with saw horses and my dining table extension leaves. It was so easy to make. I wanted something quick and cheap. I spent around $20.
Hi, this is Yina from the Blog farmhouseonthebay.com. Today i would like to show you this easy project that has become one of my favorite ones. I spent about $20 total on this project. I bought each saw horse for $8 and one small can of  Decor Americana white chalk paint I bought with a 40% coupon from Michael's, so I paid around $4 dollars.
I started by taking a look of what I already had in my house that I could use to build my desk. That’s when I found my  dining table extension leaves in the closet. I immediately took the out and lay them over my counter stools to get an idea of how they would look as a desk. How many of us have extension leaves that never used? I was one of them.
I attached the two table leaves together with with 3 metal plates.
I gave them 3 coats of Decor Americana Chalk paint in Everlasting Color. When painting with chalk paint, I made sure I lightly sand in between coats with a 220 grit sandpaper.
At the end I distressed it and gave it 2 coats of polycrylic. This is my to go item every time I'm refinishing furniture. I love that it protects the wood against water and stains and it doesn't change the color. I apply the polycrylic with synthetic brush.
I went to my salvage store looking for something to use as legs, when I saw these pair of sawhorses. They were perfect for the rustic reclaimed look I was looking for. Even better! They were only $8 a piece.

I had to adjust the sawhorses to make them sturdier. I attached one pieces of pallet wood horizontally to each side of the sawhorses.
Then, I just placed the top over the sawhorse legs and I had an amazing rustic style sawhorse desk. It was so easy to make and the best part is that I spent only $20 since I already had some of the materials.

What I love the most about this desk, is that it's wide and I can spread all the materials ans paperwork when I'm working on projects or crafts.
