Learn how to make resin coasters with foil to add visual texture! It's an easy DIY craft tutorial! See above for the quick video tutorial, so you can see all the steps and exactly how I made them!

diy foil and resin coasters
Start with aluminum foil.

Cut it into circles the size of the coaster mold.

Crumple up the foil and uncrumple it, but don't smooth it out.

I mixed six ounces of resin and added colors. Two were pigments for resin and one was a pigment powder (blue).

I poured the resin into the molds.

I then pressed down the foil into the resin.

I did that with each of the colors.

And when I had the foil in the resin, I popped to bubbles with a lighter.

Then you let them cure for 12 hours before removing them from the molds.

It's a pretty easy project and does not take long to do, except for the cure time.

I would love to try this. How would I add photos to this? Also what circle cutter did you use?

This isn’t an answer to your question, but kind of:) I’ve made paperweights for Christmas presents. I use tee light holders purchased at dollar tree. I use photos. I use Elmer’s glue. Make sure is is dried without any bubbles. Pour resin. These make super inexpensive presents. Recently for a baby shower gift, I was able to get ahold of the sonogram photo. I made paperweight for all the grandparents, mom and dad. The photo attached are 2 of my grand kids.

I wish that you had a glass on the coaster. It was hard to visualize using it.
