Sweet Dreams ~~~~ A New Pallet Headboard

1 Day
Easy

Pallets are all the rage!
It all started with my son, his Dream, 4 Pallets and a piece of plywood........
My son and daughter-in-law just moved into their new home, expecting their first baby boy July 6th!
With that said you know there is much to do and little time.............
When my son sets his mind on doing something their is no waiting he jumps all in, excited with anticipation

What stains or paint did they use? I love the colors!

oh my, it's been so long I am not sure I remember. Dark walnut - special walnut I know were two of them. Just get your favorite stain colors 4 or more of them and some cream colored paint and go to town...It's fun creative Art. Practice on a test board until you get the look you want and then go to town! Have fun creating!

I read on one of these sort of things --people were asking if the pallets were treated-- is that something to worry about? how do you know? I want to do this and a local place sets pallets out by the road, but should I be nervous?

Did you anchor the headboard to the wall. Is so how?

Where do you get the pallets

      That's my question, too.

Free Pallets can be found in most industrial or warehousing areas. If they are stacked near the Dumpster, they are usually up for grabs. I've seen some places that have signs that say "Free Pallets". If that is not the case where you find some, just ask. They are usually glad to be rid of them.

Walmart and grocery stores are a good place to check. Lowe's charges for them.

Do you shellac or seal them? How do you make sure there aren't any creepy-crawlies aren't in the wood?

I'm with Leah. How do you keep them out??

If it were me I would do what you wondered if they did. I would spray, clean, air dry in the sun all before staining. Then seal with polyacrylic or something of that nature.

I would spray the pallet down very well with a natural insect killer and let it dry before you start

I understand how you attached to the plywood, but how did you attach it to the wall? Or is it just leaning against it and bed holds it there?
