Can you put kitchen tiles over tiles already on the wall?
Currently, I have square ceramic tiles but would like to install subway tiles. The removal of the tiles is very expensive so I was wondering how to tile over tile, if possible?

The best plan is to take a hammer and hit the old tiles till there all cracked evenly, brush away the dust and retile over the old ones as they make a good surface for the new ones eric
Tile removal is actually easy to do your self, just be careful. Often people over charge for such minor services.
no
No don’t tile over old tile work. Anything that wasn’t perfect in the old work will mess up what you do. Tile is usually fairly easy to remove but the wall behind may see so damage. Be sure to repair the wall for a clean flat surface to start on. Preparation is key with tile work and you’re gonna love it when you’re done
I fully agree with Jason. If you’re going to spend the money on good subway tile, take down the old and make sure the wall is clean and smooth. Removing tile isn’t difficul, especially if it has been up along time. It may be a bit messy, but well worth the extra effort.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. In the long run, not a great idea for more reasons than I can count. I have professional tile installers at my disposal, and they would refuse the job. To defray the cost, maybe you could do the demo yourself?
No, you need a good foundation to have even tile work.
Shouldn't tile over tile. You need to remove the old tile. Make any wall repairs and then you can install the new. It's easy to remove tile. You can do it. Hammer and chisel is all it takes. Wear gloves and eye protection.
