I wanted an industrial style coffee table, but I didn't want to pay $200 for a cheapie or $1500 for a Restoration Hardware one. I came up with some basic plans to build my own and since I had many of the items already, it was less than $20 to make!
The base is made out of wood rather than metal and painted with Modern Masters paint to give a metallic finish.
The top was weathered by me and my kids (using hammers, wrenches, and screws) and stained with Minwax Weathered Oak.
I used a Kreg Jig, pocket screws, and wood glue to assemble it. The top is secured from the bottom side of top of the base with screws.
Enjoyed the project?
