I have 5 hummingbird feeders. 3 right outside my bedroom window - they are the first to wake up, and the last to go to bed. And 2 more a bit secluded for the younger and more timid birds. If you have space, make or purchase a hummingbird swing (perch bar should not be metal), they love them. I have a small tree under my bedroom window and they love to perch there and survey their surroundings. Geraniums, bee balm, lemon balm and pineapple sage are their favorites at my house.
keep the feeder filled, and plant flowers with 'trumpet-like' shapes...they have to eat so often that if they find a feeder empty they're on to greener pastures quickly
Hummers love Honeysuckle, Trumpet Vine, & Buddleia in my yard. They even get territorial over them. While hanging clothes they do fly by's on me! You'll learn their whistle and know when they are there even is you don't see them. I also see them around my Salvia, Columbine, and petunias. My Mom always had a Bottle Brush tree for the Hummers, they love it. She had it outside her kitchen window so she could always see them.
I know they love trumpet vines! Just be careful, depending on where you live they could become invasive.
