Assuming you mean a stationary island. Use off-the-shelf kitchen base cabinets. Your nice wood door would cover the back side of the cabinets since the backs were not designed for appearance.
If you buy decorative newel or deck posts from Home Depot/Lowe's, you can cut them to height and use as legs. I've seen this done on many islands or handmade tables!

A fixed island can generally support a much wider countertop overhang compared with a moveable island. As it will not require as large a base, for the same sq ft of counter space, you can save some money here.

You could start with an old dresser, farm table, work bench, etc... or just add a shelf and legs to the door.... be aware that you may have to put a big sheet of safety tempered glass on the top.. for a solid surface.... I have seen several of the Tv DIY guys use the vintage doors as the front and sides of the island... just do some research... I just did a quick Google search: how to make a kitchen island from an old door..... choose the "more images" selection.... click on the photo you like and choose the "visit" tab... print off the looks you like to compare side by side later
That’s funny because I just so happened to be making myself a diy standard rolling bar I’m half way through it by the time I’m finished it will have two shelf’s with two double doors here is what it looks like so far it is 45in long and it’s going to be 22in wide not going by a pattern just really base in it on my preference if that makes sense the top nor the shelf is in place yet but I’m getting there
After making mine from old kitchen cabinets, we covered the sides with wainscot paneling. I think an old door would look cool. http://restyled-junk.com/2017/01/my-kitchen-makeover-finally/
