It is a traditional Greek room, I love your ideas for the tapestry and the bed and yes there is a stove for the winter, cover it for the summer. Thank you very very much!!!!
the least expensive and best place to start for a fresh look is a coat of paint. Something light will make your other colors pop!
What always helps me is to take a piece of paper and draw the room, then see how many ways you can change the pieces of furniture to have a different look. I love to see what I can come up with, but I don't have to do a thing. The colors are great in the room, you may want to add a rug. You live there do small things to change it up at first. But have some fun.
The colors in the tapestry are beautiful. Like the others have said a fresh coat of paint using one of the lighter colors (like the gold) will make it pop. Then a rod or tack board to make the tapestry the artwork and focal point. Maybe some new linens in one of or even multiple of the darker colors and I do like your idea of painting the bamboo. Good luck and happy decorating!
I think you should rethink the colours. There is too much going on. The rug is lovely, if it was my choice, I would theme the room around the rug. Paint the walls white, plus a burgandy shade feature wall opposite on the side of the bed head. l would bring in light gold shades.. Get rid of the blues and bright red as they dominate the room. Bring in more eastern vases etc. Good luck with your changes. I would look in magazines and make a mood board. Sally
Here are some ideas of "Greek decor daybed." Maybe you can find some styles and colors you like.
I forgot to send the pictures! Here they are.

A fresh coat of paint would look great - and then some of the bright colors in the room would be more of a focal point.
Consider a quilt hanger ( you could probably make one with a couple boards and some wooden knobs) for the rug: it's lovely! Center it above the daybed....
I would move the daybed to the right wall, add some small square, solid color toss pillows. Also, paint the wall a neutral color. Minimize the other furniture ( tho the red chair and bench are adorable!) and make a small grouping of wall art where the rug currently is.....Nice room!
