Planter Challenge. Sunflower Planter.
I wanted to do the challenge, but didn't know what I wanted to do.
I was putting away some craft items I had used earlier in a class, there were some terracotta pots and some wooden spoons. Suddenly an idea formed. Sunflower pot. Using the spoons as petals.
I used disposible wooden tea spoons. I glued these on with hot melt glue.
The first row with the heads of the spoon above the pot rim.
Then I added another row below and Inbetween the first row. The spoons were a bit long, so I cut the bottoms off.
I then added some larger spoons turned around with the backs of the spoons stuck on.
These were going to be the leaves.
I also used the cut off handles to add a base.
I then coloured the pot with cupanol wood paint. Yellow for the petals and green the leaves.
I mixed a blue and yellow together to make a green shade.
I mixed the remaining left over green with some darker blue. I used this to add detail to the leaves.
I added string around the middle, although I could llhave left it as a standing pot, I wanted it to hang like the head of the sunflower.
I filled the centre with succulents, as they don't need any attention. They also represent the middle of the sunflower.
I then hung it on my fence.
I am really pleased with the result.
The last picture has some dirt on the paint, as I managed to drop it before fixing it.
I think I will paint a stem and leaves on the fence at a later date.

Thanks, Pat. I live in an area where the sunflowers are grown, now that's sunny. I am pleased with my effort though.
