When a tropical storm blew through Georgia and knocked down a fence, I used the wood to create art. The weathered look of the old wood made for the perfect canvas.
I cut the wood into 16 inch lengths. I used chalk to sketch the outline of a church.
I painted inside the chalk lines with white paint.
I wanted to maintain the character of the weathered wood, so I dry brushed blue for the sky, making sure to not cover the wood completely.
I used a miter box to cut strips of Balsa wood for the roof. I found a small wooden cross at the craft store to add to create the steeple. I stained each piece, along with a rectangular & oval piece of Balsa wood used for the door.
I glued the wood pieces onto the church using E6000 glue, and painted a small round window in the top of the church.
Out of the storm, rose a church!
