The Go-To Green Cleaner Your Home Has Been Waiting For
Ok, no one loves cleaning (and if you do, please don't brag ) but we've got some great DIY all purpose cleaners for you that we promise you'll love! Our Material of the Week, liquid castile soap offers a safe, organic alternative to many store-bought insect sprays, all purpose cleaners and even laundry detergent. Castile soap is 100% safe for your skin and is made from all natural vegan oils. Pair it with your favorite essential oil, and not only will your home be sparkling clean, it'll smell great too!
Here are two of our favorites.
3 Ingredient Tub & Shower Cleaner
Hometalker Karen at came up with this tub and tile cleaner after she spent years cleaning with vinegar and just wasn’t sold on the smell. (Let's face it, is anyone??) This DIY cleaner uses just 3 ingredients, cleans well and smells great.
To make this tub and tile cleaner, blend 3/4 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup liquid castile soap together until combined. The mixture will be thick. If you want a smoother cleaner, add a little water and stir again.
Add 10-15 drops of lemon essential oil, blend well, and you're done. It smells so good -- no sharp vinegar smell, just a fresh, clean lemony fragrance!
Use this cleaner in your shower, tub, sinks, and counter tops. It effectively cleans and rinses to a sparkling shine every time. Not only is it a fantastic, chemical-free cleaner, you can't beat the smell! Win-win!
DIY Essential Oil & Castile Soap Cleaner
For this all-purpose DIY cleaner, Chanda over at combined castile soap and essential oils for a kid-safe, pet-safe, cleaner that works!
To make your own: Fill your spray bottle 3/4 of the way with fresh water. Add 1/4 cup of your favorite castile soap. Chanda recommends almond, peppermint or lavender.
Next, add 10 drops each of lemon oil and tea tree oil. Mix by gently shaking. Both lemon oil and tea tree oil kill bacteria and fungus without introducing harmful chemicals into your home. And...they smell awesome!
Cheers from Chanda for a happy healthy home, and a clean, green DIY cleaning solution!
