I love everything vintage. I purchased some wooden thread spools online from Etsy. There was enough to do two trees for about $20.

I purchased a flat piece of wood at Michael's on sale. It has ridges and is an interesting shape. Then I spray painted lightly so it would be uneven and slightly old in appearance. I arranged the spools with the larger ones on the bottom and getting smaller as I went up. I used a really large one on its side door the tree trunk.

I used E6000 glue to form a tree with the spools. I painted a wooden star yellow and sprinkled it with glitter while the paint was still wet. After putting them together I painted streaks of mod podge and sprinkled them with blue beads. I plan to take them to the craft fair in November and sell them.

They are about 18 inches high and 8 wide. It's so fun to make something new for the holidays and this project is a favorite of mine.
