Cute Pumpkin Idea That Almost Got Toilet Papered
The pumpkin that I almost toilet papered. Not that I want to be mean. Toilet paper was what I had on hand in the RV. Until I found this on the ground…
We've all seen these little pumpkins in the craft aisle. I grabbed this one to take on our road trip in the RV. Then forgot to grab anything to create with it besides my glue gun and a little brown paint. Hum, what to do! I thought about shaping wet toilet paper and letting it dry hard...but all we had was RV toilet paper and it dissolves fast!!
While thinking this over I took the pups for a walk. Then I found this on the ground. It's call a petiole, I googled it. It's the part of the palm tree that holds the frond {the fan leaves} to the base of the tree. This will work!
I washed the pieces with dish soap and let dry.
Oh, our little 4 month old pup found the stick.
I used the brown paint to cover the pumpkin first.
Then I cut up the petiole using wire cutters. It's very fibrous. I cut pieces one inch and under.
Now I started up the hot glue gun and started gluing the pieces over the pumpkin. I started from the bottom.
It's at this point in some projects that we may give up. It's not looking right, it's taking too long, it isn't gonna work. I had to talk myself into continuing.
This collection of glue gun tips help me AND my fingers.
To finish the rustic pumpkin, I hot glued the stick little Otis found to replace the plastic stem.
There are more ideas to cover a pumpkin on the website incase you can find a petiole.
