How to Turn an Ordinary Cheap Plastic Mirror Into a Luxurious Piece
I am a firm believer that you can turn anything old or tatty into something beautiful! I spent ages looking for a perfect mirror but everything was either out of my budget or not to my taste. I decided to upcycle this old, scratched plastic mirror to suit our bedroom. I wanted to have a round gold mirror which looked a little 'distressed' rather than solid gold
I started by cleaning it I taped around it and put some cling film to protect the mirror. After slightly sanding the plastic and spraying with plastic primer, once dry I used Plastikote Black Gloss spray paint, I added some gold leaf.
I covered the area with glue and let it dry fopr 30 mins (follow your instructions on the glue bottle as they may differ). Once the glue became transparent (but tacky), I put the gold leaf on.
I kept adding the gold leaf until I was happy with coverage
I sanded back to reveal the black underneath. Once I was happy I varnished over the gold leaf

What what what is the name of the color blue on the walls? It is exactly what I am looking for! I have painted and repainted a room three times now. It goes so well with the golds. You’ve decorated beautifully!
