There are you tube videos you can watch to see how its, done. I am sorry I know not how to give you links to the sites. You can rent a floor sander for main floor and hand sand around the edges. You will need to decide if you want to keep it natural or stain it. Then you'll seal it with polyurethane and sand/screen it between coats.
It needs to be sanded
I agree , look at some YouTube videos, sometimes it is easier to watch someone do it , than read about it ! Basically , sand & stain then seal it . If your floors are ok , just dull looking I recommend a product called quick shine made by Halloway House .
It shines and protects the floor , you can use up to 7 coats , that would be like a bowling alley finish . I use 1 or 2 coats and do this once a year . The rest of the year I use just vinegar and water . My floors are over 65 years old and they look great !
