Probably shallow watering habits. Try watering more water at a time.
Watering inconsistently is generally the cause. See if this helps.

They probably need more water, but I would google the specific type of plant.
Many indoor plants that have the tips turn brown do so because of the chemicals in the water. Try using distilled water to see if that works.
Atmosphere too dry. - Mist . Direct sun is burning them? Buy a house plant book or ask for one as a gift for birthday etc.
The tips and edges of leaves will become brown due to inconsistent watering, especially if plants are allowed to dry out too much in between treatments. Applying too much fertilizer can cause excess salts to accumulate in the soil, which can also result in dark leaf tips. To stop additional browning, use the proper amount of water and fertilizer.
