DIY Painted Outdoor Rug

Check out how I transformed a plain $20 rug from Target into a one of a kind graphic rug with some outdoor spray paint and masking tape! This is a project you can complete in 3 hours.
I modeled this rug after a much more expensive one I had seen at the store. The lines were simply made with wide masking tape. You could make any number of designs with the masking tape on your rug.
I used Rustoleum Painters Touch tape in a few different shades for the rug. I found it held up well to the direct sun and elements on our Chicago roof deck, but started to fade after a season. This type of rug would be perfect for a covered patio!
All our guests oohed and ahhed over this rug because it is so different than what you can find at the store. Have fun playing around with different designs and color palettes! For the full step-by-step tutorial head to my blog Design Improvised (link below).
