When can I start a veggie garden?
we just moved into our house and currently have no grass. We have to wait until Spring to have the seed spread. Do we have to wait to start a garden or is this the best time because there is no grass? Sounds like a silly question but I want to make sure. Thank you!

There are a lot of things you could plant now potatoes leafy greens cabbage depending on where you live is what you can plant now
It all depends on where you live! If you’re way north it’s too soon. Google to find out your zone and last frost dates. :)
What zone are you in Marilyn? Find out here:

I am in zone 9 and already have my first round of tomato plants set out and a bunch of seedlings to set out too. We have a storm coming in this weekend and after that it will be safe enough to plant.
I am in zone 6a. Thanks for that zone guide. But even if my zone said I could plant now, should I wait for the landscapers to put down top soil and prepare the ground for grass seed?
The last thing you need is grass seed in a garden area. Mark off the area your garden will be. You may be able to start first plantings of things like potatoes, radish, onion, salad greens that you would normally cook. Check seed guides for timing and other things that can go in early.
Hi Marilyn - This is the ultimate and super easy step-by-step guide to determine your plant hardiness zone, your frost dates, and also when to start planting indoors and outdoors. Plus lots of great resources. Hope this helps and happy gardening! Hugs, Holly
