Cupcake stands can be pretty mundane. When my daughter requested a rainbow Barbie birthday party, I knew I needed a fun cupcake stand that went well with the theme. We used mason jars and pieces of wood to create a fun, colorful mason jar cupcake stand.
The stand is made with just a few items like mason jars, spray paint and wooden boards.
The first step is to paint the mason jars. I stuck the jars on top of paint stirrers and sprayed them with spray paint. We chose a mixture of gloss and satin spray paint based on the colors I wanted
We painted the wood pieces white so the colored mason jars would be more visible. Craft paint is the perfect option for that. Just paint each board on all sides.
Once all your painting is done and dry, it is time to build the cupcake stand. Start with the larger wood board on the bottom. Center on jar in the center and glue it to the board. Glue the next sized board in top and then another jar. Finish with the smallest board.
The cupcake stand is one of my favorite projects. Even with cupcakes on top, you can still see the fun colors of the mason jars. It is the perfect way to customize a display for a party.

What kind of glue did you use? Gluing glass is tricky sometimes for me.
