Hi Joanne, have you tried throwing it in your washing machine on cold cycle? That always worked great with mine. Then, don't dry it, just hang it back up.
Hi Joanne,
What I have done is take the liner down and wash it in the clothes washer in warm water with vinegar, about 1 cup. If there is a stain remaining from the pink color, you can bleach it out using a dry bleach. Dollar Tree has a peroxide based powder bleach in a plastic tub, works great. To do this let the liner soak in the washer for about 1 hour (water temp does not matter) with the bleach additive, then finish the cycle finish as usual. Make sure you let the washer mix up the bleach and liner really well before stopping it for the soak.
I washed my liner with some bleach and rehung while wet
I spray mine with peroxide cleaner and let stand for 30 minutes then turn the water on it's hottest and spray it down.
Just wash it with some vinegar, no fabric softener. Then hang back up right out of the washing machine. If you have a window, open it up to dry quicker.
You can wash it, but since they are inexpensive, replace it.
I wash mine in the washing machine on gentle cycle with 1/2 scoop of oxiclean. Works every time.
My toilets get the same thing in the summer. It is caused by a bacteria called Serratia marcescens or pink slime, not mildew. It lives in moist environments. Just wash in the washing machine with Oxiclean,or Borax added with the detergent and a few bath towels. They help agitate the material together and rub it clean.
Wash it in hot water and make sure you use a vinegar rinse.
If all else fails and you don't want to buy a new one. Cut the bottom off and cut again just under top fitting. Insert fabric of some kind the size of the piece you cut off bottom and insert that into the top, therefore lengthening it down to original length., OR Just add some other fabric to the bottom by enclosing or not the damaged area!
Make a paste of either equal parts baking soda and water and scrub the mold from the shower curtain. Rinse and repeat if necessary. Flip the shower curtain and repeat. Hang the shower curtain from a clothesline to dry.
Hi Joanne, hope this helps you. With the curtain still attached to the rod, spray any areas of the curtain that have visible mildew spots or pink mold, using a 1:1 solution of bleach and water. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Wearing gloves, sprinkle an abrasive sponge with 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and then drizzle lightly with liquid dish soap.
