You finally found that perfect fit for your entry, problem is it’s so dated and looks straight out of grandmas house!
Not to worry!
In a few short hours we can revamp this little beauty into something that will have your granny wanting it back!
1st Prep: Dixie Belle White Lightening Cleaner - this will remove any of that old polish and we degloss your piece of any cleaners, wipe back with a watered down rag and we’re good to go!
Ready for Paint!
Dixie Belle has 64 amazing colors to chose from, but I decided to go with Stormy Seas - it’s a gorgeous blue/green/gray and just has a classic, expensive feel :)
I wanted the top to look like it had been stained, but didn’t want to go through the fuss of sanding.. Soooo a blend of Dixie Belle Chocolate & Coffee Bean to do just that!
Layer on a coat of coffee bean, once dry, coat with a watered down wash of chocolate, dry again and one last watered down coat of coffee bean, wiping back as you go.
Time to distress!
I just love the look of a piece that’s been through the ringer, it tells a story with each scratch and ding, so why not create some of your own! Grab a 150 grit sanding block and scratch away!! After I smooth over lightly with a 220 grit sanding pad to give it that buttery feel!
Onto the Wax!
Dixie Belle has some amazing waxes in a few different shades, but their brown does it for me every time! This will give it that worn, dirty, antiquey glow! You can use a brush or a rag to apply as much or as little as you desire and then buff back with a clean lint free rag.
A quick top coat seal with Dixie Belle Gator Hide on the top for some extra durability - No worries when throwing your keys down after a long day here!
Add some new hardware I grabbed from a craft shop.. And ta-da!
Ain’t she a beaut?!
