Judy is correct in that when you first begin gardening it's often difficult to tell weeds from wanted plants and flowers. If in doubt, let it grow a little bit and it will become clear! Experience will let you know earlier on what to pull out.
Look around the garden and check out the plants you know are keepers. Compare them to what you wonder is weeds. Oftentimes this will tell you what to pull.
If you have a smartphone, there are plant apps you can use.

The more you garden, the more you will learn. You can also take a photo and email to your local Ag Extension and they can help you out for free too.
