A side by side of the original ceiling and what I envision.
How can I makeover this ceiling?
I am bored of my ceiling. If I paint the wood ceiling white I will change the flooring to a grey wood. My husband is against ALL changes. What do you think?my window frames are white but colour reflection from the floor/ceiling distorts this.Thank you in advance.

Love the white ceiling! Dark ceilings make me feel like I'm living in a cave - even with lots of windows - just sayin'
Stay away from grey flooring, it's a fad. I'd. Leave the floor alone and get a big rug with fun colors. Room needs some pattern and color. Do that first and then decide if ceiling needs painting. Fyi, I love color on ceilings. But maybe these changes will be a good compromise for you both.
Leave the floor alone, people aren’t so focused on the gray floorings anymore.
Lighten it up with some bright area rugs and you’re good to go, the rugs will also add separation of areas to a room that’s too deep in dimension (looks like it goes on forever)
I agree, leave the floor alone and add a light or multi colored area rug, and I also agree the ceiling is great with the lighter color.
It's a lovely room. I understand how your husband feels about painting wood. A compromise would be to try a white stain whitewash. This can be reversed if you don't like it. I think changing out the light fixture would also brighten the room. I agree to not change the flooring but to purchase a light colored carpet.
Had two ceilings similar to yours, to ensure the wood didn't dry out it needed to be oiled twice a year, quite the job. Painting it would preserve the wood and keep it from drying out.
Thank you! I will paint and buy a lighter coloured rug and see how I feel about that before I pull up the floor :)
I would just buy something light for the floor
I love what you are thinking here! Did you change it?
