Decoupaged Yarn Wrapped Candles
Got leftover yarn? Don't throw it away! Wrap candles with it. Then add some decoupage to create unique, beautiful decor for your home.
Supplies: Battery Operated Candles, Tacky Glue, Yarn, ModPodge, Patterned Napkins
Add a line of tacky glue around the bottom edge of the candle.
Add more tacky glue on the candle. You don't need a lot. Just enough to help secure the yarn. Start wrapping the yarn around the candle. Stop every now and then to press the yarn tighter together. Add a line of tacky glue around the candle at the point you'd like the yarn to end so that the last row of yarn is secure.
You can wrap the entire candle, but I only wrapped about 3/4 of the candle, leaving part of it exposed.
Separate the layers of the napkin so that you are left with only the top layer. Tear around the part of the napkin that you'd like to use.
Add a generous coat of ModPodge to the yarn.
While the ModPodge is wet, place the napkin on the yarn. Add another coat of ModPodge on top of the napkin.
Use the paintbrush to gently press the napkin into the crevices of the yarn so that the texture shows through.
This project is so fun and easy that you'll want to make some decoupaged, yarn wrapped candles for every season!
