A Low Cost Wreath the Whole Family Can Join in With

After last years real floral wreath I saved the metal frame. I decided I’d like something a bit different this year. In the shops I kept seeing lots of beautiful twig designs... but I’m not willing to pay silly amounts for what is essentially twigs stuck together. So that gave me an idea.

I’ll make it.

One Sunday we went on a family walk to our local park. The kids got involved helping picking up lots of different size twigs as well as acorns and fallen holly.

It made our walk a lot more fun.

when we got home I put the round items in a box and put over the radiator to dry them out (obviously please be careful. I have had central heating song this is safe but please don’t do this with an electric heater)

I used a glue gun. A metro wreath ring and the collected twigs.

I then started to arrange the twigs and glue them to the metal frame.

I just kept going and layering them on top of each other.

after layering and using all my sticks this is what I was left with.

dont forget you’ll need to remove all the glue gun sting/mess left behind.

I then decided I wanted to spray paint it. We he twig wreaths in the shops are all white and grey. I only had blue or rose gold spray paint so I opted for the rose gold.

I only had to wait a little while for it to dry.

Once dry I added some holly and pine cones to the bottom.

I toyed around with more holly and pine cones but I settled with this look.

I also considered painting these too but I liked the way that it looked like this.

I used some left over Christmas ribbon.

to keep it straight and to stop it from moving I looped the ribbon round where the metal frame has a join.

the ribbon loops over both sides and then I tied a knot to secure it.

then I tied it to my door.

Ta da.

Love your wreath. We all should be making our own wreaths. They have gotten so $$$.
