How can I prevent slipping on outdoor steps in icy conditions?
I need an inexpensive way to apply something that is permanent to prevent slipping on icy outside steps. Maybe a spray or mats I can glue on, etc. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks

Hi ! I have seen mats online on Amazon for this purpose !
You can buy nonslip outdoor stair tread mats or you can buy black traction tape on a roll.
Check with your local home improvement store.
Here are some mats for the stairs https://www.drpower.com/Power-Equipment/Snow-Removal/Winter-Problem-Solvers/Heated-Stair-Mat/p/000000000000288871?ctm_id=28887&src=AW19B10XE3963309&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgKzwBRCjARIsABBbFugJVdIfP_EPchNJYoU14vaI5Qx6gypFUE_VmTm5-SORatlyV6TcVLQaAsx2EALw_wcB
The traction roll works. You can nail it on if the steps are wood.
Monie....We have heavy plastic covers on our outdoor steps but they do need to be attached as will be a trip hazard with no ice or snow so be sure to attach.
You have to be careful that anything you use can develop ice in the long term, Here is a article that can give you some info.https://www.economical.com/en/blog/economical-blog/january-2017/simple-ways-to-prevent-slipping-on-icy-sidewalks
You can nail down roof shingles to provide traction. If it is really icy, you can use salt as a de-icer.
Hi, Monie!
Years ago, I installed Handi-Treads on my front steps. They are easy to install, inexpensive, and work really well. As a quick, cheap and easy solution, cat litter works really well!
If you can paint your steps, there’s an additive you can mix in with the paint. Or you can mix in some sand too.
