DIY Non-Toxic All-Purpose Cleaner
Have you ever thought about how many chemicals are in our everyday cleaning products? So many of them can be hazardous to our health. There are more than 62 thousand chemicals approved in the US, how crazy is that! We aren’t saying all are going to kill you, but if you can easily avoid some of the worst ones that are in a lot of our household products and save money at the same time, why not do it!
Why Go Chemical Free?
We’ve chosen to make our own household cleaning products because:
- A lot of the fumes from the store-bought cleaners like Clorox kickstart my asthma and it costs less to make your own!
- They work! They have for hundreds of years before we started adding harmful additives.
- The air you breathe is cleaner.
- Less harmful to the environment.
- There’s not enough research on the effects of the chemicals we use in cleaning products.
Essential Oils
Essential oils like the ones we use in this recipe: orange and lavender contain antibacterial properties that kill germs. These oils can also be used to heal cuts and wounds. If you’re not a fan of orange or lavender try using sage, lemon, cinnamon, or tea tree oil instead! We recommend both Plant Therapy and Rocky Mountain Oils. They are both great companies that are reasonable cost-wise and you still get the greatest benefits from their products.I know we’ve mentioned before that not all essential oils are made with the same quality, so make sure you use a brand you trust, not just what is the cheapest on Amazon.
