How can I make over an old dining room table?
Want to refurbish an old table. It was said to be maple. The top is not wood looks like a type of veneer on it. I need ideas on how to redo it.

Veneer can be refinished if you use a light hand, especially when sanding. Even non wood veneer can be redone. Look underneath the table to look at the wood underneath. It will give you a better idea about the top. Old pieces sometimes have really nice wood under veneer. If it's laminate, it probably not older than mid century. Sadly, the wood underneath those usually isn't great wood. No fears, because you can repair, replace or refinish almost any surface. Depends on how much time, work and money you want to invest. Depending on the wear and tear your table's planned use will have will also guide your work.
