How can I keep squirrels out of my yard?
My garden is in a small area next to the house and is fenced in. Squirrels run along the fences from yard to yard. I found my tomato’s with bites and left to rot last year. I can’t use fencing to keep them away. Any ideas???

You can discourage by covering the soil around your plants with mulch. You said you can't do a fence but can you put plastic netting?
Build a large PVC plumbing pipe frame “box” to go over the top, like a cake dome and cover it in chicken wire or mesh.
Lift the box off when you want to pick tomatoes. Or you can design the box do you have it so that the side panels can be opened with something as simple as a twist tie.
You can try covering them with fine mesh netting. There's also a recipe out there for squirrel spray that won't hurt your plants but will keep them from taking a bite: https://homeguides.sfgate.com/squirrel-repellent-sprays-tabasco-85489.html You will have to keep applying it every few days but that might help1
I've used a product called the scarecrow. It's a motion sensor sprinkler. You connect it to your house and when it senses motion, it sprays a cup of water. You can adjust the sensitivity.

Hi Cheri, Spray liquid repellents onto surfaces like bird feeders, bulbs, trees, lawns and soil to keep squirrels off and prevent gnawing and digging. Sprinkle granular repellents around the perimeter of structures, plants and gardens to prevent entry. Hope this helps,

Fencing with mesh can offer an impenetrable option.
Hi Cheri,
Encircle your tomato plants with chicken wire or closer mesh, that will put them off! Best wishes........

Get a bag of blood meal from the nursery, spread through your garden or the area you want to keep them away from. The squirrels don't like blood smell at all and it also is a mild fertilizer
Have you considered getting a dog?
