Sep 22, 2017 - While ready made curtains are perfectly wonderful out of the package, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to make them a little bit more special.
You. Outdoor stencil them or spray paint them diffrent shades of the same color
What do your curtains look like now? Can you share a photo? :)
You could add a trim to the edge or bottom for a new look. Also, dye them!
I like the dying idea as well. You can use material dye to paint stripes on them, you can stencil them with fabric paint. Adding trim to the bottom with grosgrain ribbon.
Hi Patricia. I'm Cindy. I recommend stenciling them. This will give you the opportunity to introduce a color that would go with your decor.
Dye them and resew seams and hems and iron them
Depending on the size and weight of the curtains, dying may not be the easiest way to try to transform them. Fabric can be very heavy and hard to manage when wet. And, you will need a place for the curtains to drip dry where the coloured water will not cause damage to surroundings.
Adding some ribbon as trim to the bottom would be a fun way to freshen them up! Or adding a panel of a different color to them would also work. Good luck!
I changed up some boring curtains a couple different ways. You can see them both here:

Hi! maybe this will help

we used to use Rit dye to change the appearance of our curtains - also you can sew or use a glue to run a piece of contracting fabric across the bottom to update them
Hello Patricia,
Add strips of patterned fabric on front edge or front and back edges, or front, back and bottom edges. Set different fabric or braid in 6" from edge in "U" shape. Stencil Pattern all over. etc.......
You could dye them
Dye then add stencils tie backs
Depending on the fabric, you could maybe dye them. If not you can stencil paint with fabric paint or stitch on appliques, add fringe. Really it's limited by your imagination.
