How do I use these?
Any ideas what to do with these? Room behind is an add on and these are in our office/kids craft room. Not sure if I could make them useful or just tear them out. They are on hoth sides of the doorway. Thanks!

Matchbox cars, Lego creations, miniatures, are just a few of the things that popped in my mind! Have fun with them!
Hi Amanda, just a thought maybe remove some shelves and you would have more room. Hope this is helpful. Stay well
Hi Amanda. Originally I thought to go for seasoning storage. But now I know it's being used for your children, so I think books and toy storage is a better idea.
Remove every other shelf and use for nick nacks or collectAbles
I would use for jars of paint and cans of play-dough etc for crafting. Also might be fun and colorful to let them (kids) paint the shelves before filling.
Contact Paper or decoupage the back. Remove some shelves for storage. Paint the shelves and molding.
Use one of the units as a designated place for earbuds, earphones, and other paraphernalia related to a mobile device recharging station. Small holes could be drilled in a few of the shelves to anchor recharging cords and plugs if needed. (From the picture it seems like the unit would be close enough to the electrical outlet).
Hi Amanda,
Attractive way to store craft items......................?
I think those little inserts are really cool. If you could remove some of the shelves, you could change the heights to hold larger items. You could display a small collection you have, like rocks, seashells, Lego guys, toy cars/trucks, etc.
Thanks everyone!
Since it's an office and craft area, I think it would be ideal to store supplies. You could use decorative baskets from the Dollar Tree. Since it's kids, you could do a rainbow of colors. For more sophisticated, go with all matching in a woven pattern.
You could take scrapbook paper in whatever colors or designs you like and cut and adhere to the shelves and the backing and then make a shelf for perfumes, little things that you collect or even craft or sewing items. Store clear bottles or containers with buttons or other items you have no where to put.
DVDs and CDS
HI Amanda,
How about creating a hidden compartment? Take the shelves out and get a piece of artwork (or have the children make something), frame it to cover the space It is fairly easy to create a hidden compartment to store valuables. The hardest part of these types of compartments is creating the space and you already have that. You can go online and find dozens of diy how to's.
Store all your small craft supplies on the shelves. Or take out every second shelf if you need space for taller supplies.
They would be good for displaying small figurines
Display things or tear out or hang art over
Why don't you take out the shelves and put in a nice faux plant in there instead?
Wall niches have the unfortunate limitation of being slightly thinner than the wall itself. That typically leaves only 3 to 3 1/2 inches of useable depth. They are also generally limited to smaller than the gap between studs less any finishing wood, so 12 to 14 inches.
Option 1, as many have stated, remove some shelves selectively to make some taller, then sort shallow craft and/or office supplies.
Option 2, open up the back! It will give you an extra half inch of shelf depth plus a bit of grace for items to extend equally into each room. Many craft supplies are actually pretty. A ribbon organizer or an array of paint brushes can give a pop of color to both rooms & makes it easier to do a fly-by check on little ones as you go about your own household tasks.
I would use them to display some pretty bottles or other collection
