Depending on how old they are, and how thick they were to begin with, it could be that they have just seen their better day. Are the pans quite new?
Hello Deb,
Use a Brillo pad and a little hot water. Best wishes
I would try this method in the bathtub. If it works for oven racks.....it would work on baking pans:

I like Bar Keeper's Friend for that kind of heavy duty cleaning. Good luck!
Give them a good scrub with steel wool. If they are old, I just replace them.

Scrub with a steel wool pad or SOS and a cleanser. I had some but I replaced them because (1) they aren't expensive and (2) rust is nothing I want near my food.

A woman told be to scrub them with crumbled foil and olive oil. Haven’t tried it yet but will later today.
The safest, easiest rust remover I use is cola. Inexpensive, too. Give each a good soak. Good luck and stay well!
If rusty I d throw out. To clean old baked on grease use oven cleaner.
Ok thanks gotcha I was trying to not spend my pennies but I see them in all the stores at all price points so I will start to re-up on my baking pans etc. and happily "toss them all and start fresh !"
Regards D.
