Can sheet linoleum be installed over ceramic tiles?

Rather than have a new linoleum floor installed would it be possible to just buy a section of linoleum and place it in your work area like a big throw rug. I know that you can buy remnant pieces at Menards for a reasonable price. They have many different sizes and some will cover a larger area. I do not think that once the linoleum is on the floor and if you have work tables etc on it that it would slide around. It is possible that over time the edges may want to curl up but you could duct tape them down.

You really shouldn't since the tile and grout lines will telegraph thru the vinyl. Vinyl really needs to be applied over plywood. I'd just get a piece of vinyl and lay it on top like a rug. You'll also decrease your property value by replacing floor with a low quality product over a life time value product. Enjoy your art.

Since the tiles are large format the grout lines may not shoe much. Just sweep and clean the floor well and lay down the sheet vinyl over it. If doing the whole floor let it sit for a few days to acclimate and settle. Then you can use carpet tape along the edges if you choose

The grout lines will show if you don't fill them in and smooth it out first.

If you do, you will be able to see all the grout lines shortly after installation. I would recommend putting down a thin layer of luan plywood first.

There is a new luxury vinyl that can be put over tiles. A friend of mine did it in her kitchen, and after 3 years still looks great.

I don't think there is any reason to be concerned about the value of the shed being decreased if the flooring were vinyl instead of tiling. Practicality and ease of keeping the floor clean is more of a concern here.

Yes it is the vinyl planks I think Shaw makes the kind to be put over tiles.
