What?
Can you recommend a wood stain or filler? My couch has a wooden base and I just noticed a sliver missing. I must have kicked it off. It pains me to see it. I have 2 left hands, too. Is there an easy product to fill up the missing piece and paint it? Dark brown/black.

If it's small you can use a wax pencil filler the color of the wood. You just press it in place and smooth it out level. Sold at all hardware and paint stores. Good luck.
Hi! Don't stress. You may be able to disguise it with a crayon, marker or craft paint in the right color. Good luck and stay safe!
I picked up what looks like a set of markers (and they are markers but the colors are the wood shades) and I keep them on hand for little emergencies. The Home Depot has wood furniture repair markers. You get the exact color you need.
Elmers makes wood filler in colors. You can try to get one as close as your piece that is missing. It is not hard to use. Overfill, then lightly sand down the excess.
Thank you all! Much needed and appreciated advice I will be taking.
I use Minwax wood filler which can be found at any hardware store. It stains well. My choice of stain is Minwax as well!

Cecile,
You should look for a Furniture Repair Wax or a Kiddies Crayon in the colour of your wood and rub it across the place and if rewired use a warm iron to seal it on.
