How do I kill a crepe myrtle so the suckers stop. The tree was in my neighbors yard for about 25 years. She had it removed about two yeas ago
the suckers are all but choking my awesome oleander
i need a solution to finally stop it. Please help

I have read that you use vinegar, but that seemed to make it worse.

We had a problem with a neighbor's trumpet vine. Then we installed a block wall between us and there is a concrete footing at least 12" below grade. Their roots no longer invade our yard.
Interesting question. I've been trying to grow a Crepe Myrtle for years! I have a bamboo "situation" going on around my house!
The plant is just trying its best to stay alive. That's why all the suckers are coming up. Just keep cutting them down at ground level; eventually it will give up.

I have found that they are very hard to kill. They are one tough plant!
You may have to chop at the suckers, repeatedly, until they die. You cannot use strong herbicides, near your Oleander, but you can carefully "paint" the crepe myrtle suckers with herbicide (using a very thin paint brush), in hopes of slowly killing future growth.
