Simple Succulent Wreath (made With a Hat)
We are all digging pretty deep to find things to make at this time when access to crafting supplies is pretty limited.
Before our stay at home started I had an idea for a Spring wreath for my door. Luckily I already had a few things on hand to make the wreath.
The supplies you need are:
- A straw hat
- Ribbon (and lace optional)
- Glue gun - I like to use a cordless glue gun.
- Faux succulents - I don't know why but these seem like spring to me
Here are the steps to make your hat/wreath.
1.) poke a hole in your hat so you can hang it on the door. I used a thermometer, but you could use an ice pick or anything with a pointy end.
2.) Wrap your ribbon around the hat and glue it in place.
3.) Start gluing your faux succulents around the ribbon.
4.) Glue lace around the ribbon.
5.) Hang your wreath/hat on the door.

When making a wreath to hang on a wooden panel door I back the wreath with either a round circle of felt to fit the back of the wreath , or hat, so it will not scratch the door when swaying back and forth from the wind. Strips of felt could also be glued if you don't have enough felt to make a circle. You just have to cut the felt to fit the back. Cut out a hole in the middle for grapevine and other types of wreaths. Much better than having to repaint a scuffed up door.
