What color theme should my new bedroom be?
I am moving, and My new bedroom has wooden floors. I have a nice wooden desk, witch would match my floors. I have a bed with a flamingo and leaves pattern. It reminds me of summer, but I would like some thoughts on some other things to put on the walls, floor, and even some blinds colors. I hope I could get your creative minds thinking in this COVID- 19 situation! Thanks!

Blinds should always match the trim. Use the bedspread as your guide also get a nice large rug for your floor that has colors that make you smile. The more colors the more choices you have to choose from to create a cohesive plan. I always recommend at least 3 colors but prefer 5 in my focal point .
Thanks so much! That is so simple, yet intelligent!
Before you make any decisions go to Amazon and browse the bed spreads/comforters. This helped me to make a decision on a wall color and some butterfly decals as well as a bed spread. For the first time ever I have what looks like a bedroom set that was well though out not one piece from Walmart, one from Target, etc.
What's your favorite color? Mine is blue, so the quilt on my bed is in shades of blue, as are my curtains. But, there are other touches of color and the walls are gray. I like a bedroom where I feel peaceful. I have favorite pictures on the wall, too. Good luck and stay safe!
Sometimes it isn't so much as a new theme to start off your room but more like an inspiration piece. If you like beautiful rugs, then start your inspiration with a rug that you love. Or if you like art...find a piece that sings to you and use all the colors in the artwork to decorate your room. Or if you like solid rugs but want patterns on your pillows or bedding(sounds like flamingos and leaves!!Pink and green), then bring in an inspiration pillow or bedding that you love and work around that. Since you have a patterned bed, maybe bring in solid pillows with the same colors. What I love doing is searching through magazines and looking for pages with color combinations that I LOVE!! It might even be an add not a decorated room. But it is the focus of how I want my new room to look. If you really love themes, you can do that too but make sure your colors all revolve around your inspiration:). Good luck!
A light lavender and cream is one of my favorites. I went to Home Depot and saw a matching paint bedroom scheme in their folded paint fliers. That gave me the color inspiration. They can put things together in what will look good.
I use softer colors in the bedroom, as it should be as relaxing as possible. I prefer neutral shades on the wall and my for artwork to be the main interest, so I choose a pale gray with a brown undertone so its not too "cold". Likewise, our bedding is neutral, but our sheets are generally colorful and bring out the touches we have placed around the room. But really, you make your bedroom what you like. Look at magazines, watch DIY shows, check out online showrooms. Pick what you like and what you think will look good with your furniture and go with that.
Go with outdoor pictures. You could do the different seasons or different locations like beach, mountains, forest. For the blinds, pick a neutral so you can change your decor & theme without having to get new ones.
A coastal vibe would be both soothing and work well with your bed!
Hello there,
Pale green or Duck Egg blue would work well for that open air feel. Add a Parlour palm and Mother in law tongue etc. to add to the effect. Maybe a mirror that looks like a window. Tropical bedding. etc...........
How about a patterned area rug with shades of pink that match the flamingo?
Thanks, good idea! I got a really cute rug that was white with black diagonal stripes that I got from a yard sale! I like the pink Idea, so I could put some cute pillows and blankets in a corner to make a little hang out area! Thanks again!
I hope you've found a great color! We'd love to see what you chose.
A desk does not have to match floor. Blinds do NOT have to match trim. Play with color. I would purchase a second bedspread to change out for fall winter. Paint the walls in a soft green to bring out the green in the spread and green is a neutral so it goes with anything. Add a neutral rug with a soft mix of greens and tans. It will match well with a solid color spread for the fall winter months as well. Look online at places like Wayfair that have tremendous painting for SUPER cheap.
