How to re-pot a flowering jasmine?
I have a 20 year old flowering jasmine, indoor plant. Three years ago, the leaves withered and fell and I found white bugs smaller than a pin head on some of the leaves. I cut the plant back all the way to the soil and within 9 months, it was tall, fragrant and flowering. Since then, the same pattern occurs once a year and I cut it back and start over. I think I should re-pot it with new potting soil. I have no idea how to re-pot a flowering jasmine, what type of soil it needs or if it needs fertilization. The plant was a gift to me 20 years ago.

Hi Judy, repotting it in new soil may help with those bugs. Here's a link on how to repot your Jasmine.

Oh here is another link and it talks about the timing. Says summer months are best for repotting.

Sometimes you have to cut the jasmin after you repot it so it get stronger.
I have cut the jasmine back to about 4 inches, the stems and leaves are green, Do you think I should cut it back further after repotting it?
Repot in a pot that is one size larger and use soil made for jasmine. Don't cut back or do anything dramatic for a while. Don't fertilize for a month. Only repot in spring or fall. Don't fertilize in the winter.
Besides repotting, you need to find out what those bugs are. Next time it happens take a leaf or branch, wherever they are to a reputable nursery and have them identify them so you can get rid of them. Of you can't get to a nursery, try Insecticidal soap. Here's a hometalk who made hers

Hello there,
These white bugs are Mealy Bugs. They can be burned off using cotton bud and nail varnish directly onto the bug.
Hello A regular potting soil should be fine.
