Where are the flees? Indoors, outdoors, just on your pet?
Diotomaceous earth. Works within days for us. Be aware for yourself and your pet to not breathe in any large amount of it when applying it to your pet or environment as it irritates the lungs but otherwise it is actually also an effective anti parasitic when taken internally as well. Non toxic and safe avoiding the risk of exposing your pet to the harsh chemicals the are in most mainstream flea pills and drops. There is lots of info online you can find about it .
You should go and get an all in one pill from your vet. It is not worth leaving and getting your home infested.
The vet has prescription treatments for flea control, take your dog there after you have given it a bath with flea shampoo. or another flea eliminating product. The vet can administer either a pill or a topical treatment to kill fleas.
Next I would look to control the fleas in the yard where they dog goes, DE earth works well-you can get this at diy stores, keep your yard mowed and free of debris where fleas can hide.

Treat your pets with an over the counter flea treatment. Then clean your house and use diatomaceous earth daily and vacuum it up after 24 hours to kill any remaining fleas or eggs.
When we got them, we tried everything available to the public and eventually hired an exterminator. The issue is their reproduction cycle is so quick. We would kill them all and in 2-3 days the eggs would hatch. The exterminator used a spray that sterilized the fleas and eggs. It was actually cheaper to hire them than the money we had spent on DIY attempts.
Planting pennyroyal in your yard will also deter fleas.
