An Organized Approach to Storing China
I confess to be a collector of dishes, china and glasses. However, storing them safely and accurately identifying them is a challenge. We are all familiar with the quilted, zippered plate saver/storage containers that are available online or at retail stores. Since I have so many dishes, I created an easy way to find out what dishes are in what containers. This very simple idea has saved me so much time, especially during the holiday season.
Before you start this project, determine how many plate savers or storage containers you need for your dishes and glasses.
Next, I took pictures with my cell phone of all the dishes that needed storing.
Print the pictures out using the thumbnail size setting on a printer.
Cut the photos out and glue to card stock tags.
Each picture gets its own tag. Or you can make your own tags by cutting card stock paper to the size you want, punch a hole and add a piece of string. The tags can be purchased online or any office supply store.
Write the quantity of the item on the back of the tag.
Tie the tag to the corresponding storage container, having the photo side of the label facing out.
As you can see, I have LOTS of china and glasses. Some people collect shoes. I collect dishes. Since I have yet to find a clear storage container, my tag organizational system works wonders.
