Vinegar and water is always a good way to clean outside wood. But, you'd have to climb up there to do it. I would consider a power washing it and then using a good sealer like Thompson's Water Seal.
A pressure washer would be the easiest way. I got one at Aldi's of all places for really cheap. (About $80) It comes in handy for many uses for years to come so it is a good investment.
Patty: I think renting a pressure washer would make fairly quick work of your issue --- then you can sit back and enjoy the beauty!
Agreed on the pressure washer idea. You can always sand them down like I did to my inside beams but that can be one very nasty job. Because its outside I would absolutely get a pressure washer: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/paint/rooms/sanding-down-and-refinishing-the-beams-throughout-my-home-42253582

Power washer
A power washer is easy to use, but, can take paint off wood if too much pressure is used. An alternative, is a hose with an adjustable nozzle to increase pressure, a stiff broom for scrubbing the surface. You can also purchase attachments for your hose that contain solution for cleaning your siding, that are not expensive. Walmart carries Krud Kutter multipurpose cleaner with a hose attachment for under 8 dollars. Good luck and stay safe!
I would pressure wash them and if you don't have a pressure washer you can rent them cheap by the hour or day- also there are tons of spray on solutions for decks that clean the wood here are some examples and they could be found at Home Depot, etc

I agree with pressure washer! You may need to think about staining them when you are done.
You could pressure wash them, let them dry and put a good quality stain or if they already have a stain or paint on them, then you will have to paint.

Hello Patty,
You could power wash them or hose them down or use a long duster to remove cobwebs etc. Good luck!
You can try some deck cleaner, spray it on, give it a bit of a scrub then rinse off. That might do the trick.
Scrub them with Murphy’s oil soap mixed with water and a scrub brush then when dry varnish or oil them
