Cheapest way to make a large (900 sq ft) wall?
I just finished resloping my backyard by hauling in a 600 cubic yard of dirt. Now I'm looking to build a retaining wall around it. It is going to be on backside of my house, facing the woods. So, I don't care how ugly it is. The length on the back side is around 135 ft. I'll probably think of putting a better looking wall on the side, but I'm more concerned about that back part. What would be my best bet?

Cheapest way to make a large retaining wall
Railway sleeper would be a cheaper option.
Hi Sujit,
You could use Railway Sleepers in a brick formation, or bags of cement laid in a brick formation or bags of sand laid in the same fashion. best wishes
Hi Sujit,
We built a retaining wall last year...
We DIY'd the whole thing. Check out my posts: https://karupp-did.net/plan-and-diagram-a-retaining-wall-to-diy/ and https://karupp-did.net/building-a-retaining-wall/ might seem complicated but in the post I:
-laid out how to plan and diagram
-math calculations to figure out how much stone and block to order
-how far we dug down and the cross section of what is going on under the ground
-What we did to build the retaining wall.
-what materials were needed.
-the actual building pictures
If you want to see the final concrete pad that was built in the end....that post is:
https://karupp-did.net/pour-a-cement-pad-diy/. You probably aren't putting a cement pad on top but just in case... It was a huge project but we we are so pleased with how it came out. Good luck!
Retaining wall blocks is a good option. The wall should have been installed first, but is still doable.
Iāve seen some effective retaining walls with railroad ties.
