Add a removable wallpaper. When you leave just take it down.
There is removable contact paper. Or you could use Command strips to hang pictures.
Hello there,
Add picture or a gallery of art or photos. Add a large Mirror or clock.
You can use removable wallpaper or attach fabric to the walls with liquid starch.
You can always lightly wash the walls, but do it in a small spot first. Hopefully the owner used a washable paint.
Hang artwork! Or something like a fabric tapestry. :)

Add a sheet or shower curtain on a wooden frame. Thin strips of wood with braces across the middle (a few if frame is large) then staple onto the frame in the back. You can also decorate with washi tape you can peel off.
The type of lighting in the room can affect how the paint color on the walls is perceived, or what color it appears to be.
Incandescent light gives off a murky yellowy tone, florescent a greenish tone, with both giving off a dingy light if the bulbs are insufficient wattage.
One of the fastest and easiest ways of adding new life to any room is to
replace the light bulbs with LED lightbulbs.
LED light is clean, clear, and shadowless. There are choices within LED lighting such as warm to cool. Examples below.
You could add removable wallpaper!
When was the last time that the wall has been thoroughly washed?
Removing all glass portions of light fixtures and giving them a good wash with hot water can also brighten up a room.
Sometimes the difference between the 'before' and 'after' with only a little time and elbow grease, can be huge.
Thanks everyone. i'll try with the wash first. If that doesn't work, I'd opt for the removable wallpaper.
You're welcome.
You didn't say what they are (paneling, sheetrock, wallpaper, tile, or other) so this is a general stab at the issue. First, clean thoroughly. If you don't like the way they look you can add removable wall paper, tapestries, large mirror (which will also brighten the room), or large pictures.
Try hanging a large tapestry like these: https://amzn.to/3f8ze43
You could actually wash them that will freshen them up and clean them
If they are looking dirty you could use a Mr. Clean magic eraser to scrub down the walls and remove stains.
