Good prep is the key. You want the floor clean, with no wax or other residue. A TSP cleaner like Krud Kutter will help. If the finish is glossy at all, you want it dulled. A light scuffing will help. Once it is dust free, use a primer/sealer. Then, use floor paint. A clear drying sealer intended for floors will protect your finish. Good luck and stay safe!
